She Owns the Sky is part of the Echoes of Tomorrow Collection.

The colours in this piece are intended to be bold and vibrant, adding a touch of whimsical abstraction without detracting from the sombre beauty of the subject. The background is inspired by my training as a Contemporary Australian Aboriginal Artist. It tells the story of the land, the outback plains and bushland, and the movement of the golden grasses as the wind sweeps across the plains, with a nod to the southern skies at night. It is a map of things present and things past.

This acrylic-on-canvas painting is an expression of memory and heritage. The great Wedge-tailed Eagle of Central Australia is renowned for her hunting prowess, intelligence, and vivid memory.

As a child travelling the outback highways, it was always a special sight to see these magnificent birds in flight. She is a predator, queen of the sky; she moves with grace and rides upon the thermals. She is never lost and journeys wherever she wishes to go. She is free. She is strong. She owns the sky.
