He has great wisdom, spiritual powers and is greatly learned – he carries...Upasaka Dharmatala is a Patron of Dharma, attendant of the Sixteen Ahrats and a manifestation of Avalokiteshvara. He has great wisdom, spiritual powers and is greatly learned – he carries the Scriptures on his back. Here he is seated on a cushioned throne over a lotus pedestal wearing boots and heavy flowing robes, carrying a fly whisk and Bumpa, symbolising his service to the Ahrats.
The tiger seated to his right protects the Ahrats from dangerous animals.
