• Konboye Eugene

Konboye Eugene is a Nigerian environmental artist whose practice transforms discarded flip flops into mosaic portraits that explore identity and material memory. Born in Delta State and raised in northern Nigeria, he began experimenting with repurposed objects as a child, a curiosity that later shaped his artistic direction. He studied painting at Auchi Polytechnic, where his interest in unconventional materials developed into a focused exploration of footwear as a symbolic medium.

Working from his studio in Abeokuta, he collects flip flops from landfills and riverbanks, cleaning and stitching them through a meticulous process that reconnects fragments of everyday life. Konboye has taken part in international residencies, workshops and cultural programs, and his work has been featured by media outlets such as Reuters and BBC. His practice encourages conversations around sustainability and highlights the creative potential of recycled materials.
