Nana Danso
Nana Danso Awuah-Asante, better known as Artsoul Kojo, is a Ghanian painter known for his faux-naïf style and the characters and personalities that appear throughout his work. The paintings also have a street-art quality, an energy that evokes the likes of Keith Haring, and figures that may recall Jean Dubuffet. For a 2021 exhibition in Accra, Kojo created a mural in which innumerable characters rendered in his trademark style float in and out of the picture plane. Kojo takes much of his influence from his elders’ use of symbolism and their powers of storytelling. -
