It began with layers of block colour underneath which has been masked with layers of white wash to create sections of pattern and shape. Inspired by her surface pattern background this painting is an exploration of pattern, colour, minimalism and transparency.
As an artist painting is such a cathartic process for me and often she starts a piece and not know where it’s going to end, which becomes a spontaneous process. She is painting ethereal over the course of a few days, listening to music and channeling her everyday mood into the final piece. Capturing moments of time, the final piece is magical.
