The composition of this piece is bright and bold. It is highly abstracted, made up of large shapes in smoothly spread colour and thick impasto. Smaller shapes and touches of colour also fill the canvas space. The piece is constructed from free-floating elements that Maltman assembles together in a thoughtful manner. AFOTM XCIX is in the 508 Gallery catalogue, and is to be exhibited at Philip Maltman’s solo show in June 2022.
