This is a heavily textured and layered painting. With marks from the paintbrush, scribbles and scratches, thick clouds and thin lines of colour, it is deeply expressive and seems to tell the story of the subject, as well as the story of the making of the painting. We can almost trace Philip Maltman’s process, as he adds the final touches to this piece. This piece is part of a larger series titled A Flower of the Mountain, completed by Philip Maltman in 2022.
